Who We Are

The Dutch Reformed Church in Africa (DRCA) Phahameng is a remarkable institution with a deep sense of community and commitment to both spiritual and technological growth. Founded in 1963 by Rev. Letoka, the church has evolved significantly over the years. Today, under the guidance of Reverend Motantsi Samuel Makhele, it continues to thrive and innovate.

The church's efforts to integrate modern technology are especially notable. By establishing a website, implementing an online payment system, and introducing automated email responses, DRCA Phahameng is setting a strong example for other Ngka churches in South Africa. The congregation's embrace of these tools allows for smoother communication and enhances the church's ability to serve its members in today's fast-paced, digital world.

Additionally, DRCA Phahameng’s registration as a Non-Profit Company (NPC) with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) is a testament to its transparency and dedication to operating with integrity. This distinction, shared with only one other Ngka church in Bloemfontein, reflects the church's commitment to both its spiritual and social responsibilities. Furthermore, the church also operates a registered Non-Profit Organization (NPO) called Phahameng Cares, with registration number 316-593NPO, which further exemplifies its dedication to serving the community.

The development of an urban branch in Fauna further strengthens the church’s connection to its Sesotho-speaking community, ensuring that all individuals have access to spiritual guidance and support, no matter where they live.

With the leadership of Reverend Makhele and the tireless efforts of the church council, DRCA Phahameng continues to grow and improve, setting benchmarks that others in the Ngka community look up to. The church's focus on spiritual enrichment, community service, and modernity ensures that it remains a cornerstone of support for its members, both locally and beyond.
